Introducing Miss Flint and Friends

Next month we will be performing our latest production My Friend Miss Flint by Donald Churchill and Peter Yeldham, a comedy about fraud, deceit, mistaken identity and gardening.
When Tom Lambert, botanist and TV gardening personality, receives a call from Inland Revenue enquiring about his public relations consultant Joanna Flint, he can honestly say he has never heard of her. By lunchtime, he knows all about Miss Flint: his accountant and ex wife confesses that she invented Miss Flint as a tax dodge. This tricky situation sets the stage for sparkling comedy.
Each of the persons mentioned below will be reciting their lines and declaring their earnings in a timely manner in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.

Luke
Tom Lambert
Luke most recently featured as uncle Bernard, complete with puppet pigs, in Season’s Greetings (2019). Recently he has played Herr Flick in ‘Allo ‘Allo (2019) and Mr Potter (It’s a Wonderful Life, 2018). He is perhaps best known for being a Pratt; Inspector Pratt in Murdered to Death (2014) and Secondary Cause of Death (2018).

Becky
Lucy
Becky’s most recent outing was as Mimi in ‘Allo ‘Allo (2019). She played Violet Bick and several other characters in It’s a Wonderful Life (2018) and has clocked up countless roles in BaCStage plays and pantomimes. She is unique in the group as being the only actor to be murdered in both Murdered to Death (2014) and Secondary Cause of Death (2018).

Ash
Albert
After a four year break from BaCStage Ash returned in 2019 to play Rene in ‘Allo ‘Allo. After that he needed another break, but now he’s back – again! Ash has been part of BaCStage since its inception in 1997, when we were known as The Millennium Players, starring in countless plays and pantomimes.

Julie
Sarah
Julie is fast becoming a BaCStage regular; this will be her third role following on from Michelle in ‘Allo ‘Allo (2019) and Pattie in Season’s Greetings (2019). She has also been a member of the Meridian Singers.

Ross
Mr Dodds
Most recently seen as Eddie in Season’s Greetings (2019), Ross’s long and varied list of credits include LeClerc in ‘Allo ‘Allo (2019), George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life (2018) and chef Larry Tuthill in Secondary Cause of Death (2018), when he was also assistant director, along with many roles in earlier plays and pantomimes.

Sharon
C. P. Lens
This is Sharon’s second on-stage production with BaCStage after Season’s Greetings (2019) where she played the part of Rachel. She has previously helped behind the scenes both with BaCStage and as stage manager for the annual shows at the dance school where she used to work. A peek in her attic will reveal cases with the magic equipment she used during her 10 years as a children’s entertainer.

Gordon
Director
Gordon is taking charge for the second time, after being Herr Direktor for ‘Allo Allo last year. He is a key member of BaCStage’s ‘back stage’ team, in set construction and stage management. He claims to “not do acting” but is very happy to stand in for missing actors at rehearsals. Along with Jason he created the sound effects for It’s a Wonderful Life live during the show, and voiced Jimmy the Bird, still his most prominent on-stage role to date.
My Friend Miss Flint is set in the 1980s, the era of yuppie excess and financial “creativity”. We did briefly consider setting it in the present day era of excess and financial “creativity” but couldn’t come up with a convincing answer to the question “why don’t any of the characters have mobile phones?”, so the ’80s it is. At least one of us will be hitting eBay to find some authentically tasteless ’80s attire, while others among us will be going through their wardrobes to find some authentically tasteless ’80s attire.
