BaCStage needs one of these!
Recently wifey and I enjoyed a rather marvellous holiday in Germany. Staying on the shore of a lake in a picturesque village, we were surrounded by lush, rolling meadows with the Alps as a backdrop. It was all rather “Sound of Music”, although of course without the long dark shadow cast by the looming, ominous and ever-present threat of Julie Andrews bursting into song.
Among the many excellent local facilities was this open-air theatre.
It features a good-sized stage, glazing to keep the artistes nice and dry, lighting integrated into the roof and plenty of that lake-meadow-alpine backdrop to distract the punters if the performance isn’t up to much.
Unfortunately my impromptu one-man show didn’t exactly pack them in.
I didn’t have the benefit of the BaCStage publicity machine to get the word out. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
After the show the audience can race the cast across the road to the many nearby eateries, serving a selection of good food, eis cafes (does anywhere in England serve a decent eis cafe?) and a wide selection of German beers – proper stuff, too, not the froth they export to us!
So… I wonder how long it would take the legendary BaCStage Hand-rail Team to lash one of these outdoor stages together?
